Sediments Laboratoy
Artistic Residency
The Guarda Rios collective will develop a series of three creative, experimental and mapping residencies centred on the River Xarrama and the surrounding territory of the village of Torrão. Rivers produce fine sediments such as sand, clay and gypsum, which are extracted for various human uses. It is also in rivers that residual by-products of human activity are leached, such as agricultural fertilisers or chemicals inherent to paper and textile production, etc. We are therefore faced with a circular logic of water that it is important to understand, so that we may rethink our modes of production and consumption.
